There's no flat rate for tree work — the price depends on the size and species of the tree, how close it is to buildings or power lines, how difficult the access is, and what's involved in clearing the waste. Sometimes, yes. If the tree is covered by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) or stands in a conservation area, you'll usually need consent from the local council before any work — even pruning. We check for TPOs and conservation status as part of our survey and can advise on or handle the application for you. It's always cheaper to check first than to face a fine for unauthorised work.

It depends on the species and the work. Many trees are best pruned in winter when dormant, while some flowering and fruit trees are pruned after they bloom. Most felling can be carried out year-round, but we always check for nesting birds first — it's an offence to disturb an active nest, so during nesting season (broadly March to August) we survey carefully before starting. We'll advise on the right timing for your specific tree.

Yes. Our arborists hold the relevant NPTC / City & Guilds certificates of competence for chainsaw and aerial tree work, and we carry public liability insurance. That's up to you. We can remove all the timber, brash, and waste and leave the site clean, or — if you'd like the wood for firewood — we can cut it to length and stack it for you. We'll also grind out the stump or leave it, whatever suits. Just let us know your preference when we quote, and it'll be itemised so you can see exactly what's included.

Many jobs — a crown reduction, hedge cut, or a single tree removal with good access — are completed in a day. Larger or more complex work, such as sectional dismantling of a big tree in a tight space or clearing several trees, can take longer. We'll give you a realistic timescale with your quote so you know what to expect and can plan around it.

Yes. Trees in confined spaces are removed by sectional dismantling — taking the tree down piece by piece, often using ropes and rigging to lower limbs safely rather than felling it whole. It's slower and more skilled than straight felling, but it's how we protect buildings, fences, and gardens. This is everyday work for a qualified arborist.

Crown reduction makes the whole canopy smaller while keeping its natural shape — useful for an overgrown or top-heavy tree. Crown thinning removes a portion of the inner branches to let more light and air through without changing the overall size. Crown lifting removes the lowest branches to create clearance over a path, drive, or garden. We'll recommend the right approach for what you're trying to achieve.

Yes. Storms can bring branches or whole trees down across drives, roofs, and roads, and a partially fallen tree can be unstable and dangerous. We offer rapid emergency response to make the situation safe, clear the obstruction, and assess the rest of the tree. If you've had storm damage, call us — don't try to tackle a hung-up or tensioned tree yourself.
